Glória, Portuguese for ‘glory’ or ‘honour’, is the first stoneware tableware collection of Unik Antwerp that literally honours the Portuguese architecture with a compelling regard for nature. The collection, including plates, bowls and cups, feature simple yet striking shapes with a distinct rough texture. The pieces, that have a somewhat monolithic look, pay homage to renowned architects like Álvaro Siza Vieira and Eduardo Souto de Mouro, and their ability to blend modernity with nature or integrate it into the historical context of the location, while maintaining an unpretentious and modest aesthetic.

To preserve the raw beauty of the grey clay colour, only the inside is finished with a semi-reactive glaze that results in a unique yet soft touch. As such, the colours are sober, like the earth, so they don’t draw all the attention. The pieces come in off white, taupe and rust. Altogether, a natural colour palette is created while striking the perfect balance between decoration and functionality.
