A Spicy Journey Through the Heart of the Old Town
In the narrow streets, between clusters of houses, in an overheated atmosphere, a thousand intoxicating scents fill the air: betel, benzoin, musk, and myrrh, mingling with smoky wood notes, whiffs of vanilla, herbal and eucalyptus beedies. Contains natural essences of Vetiver, Cardamom, Nutmeg, Indonesian Gurjum, Patchouli, Myrrh, Vanilla, Musk, and Olibanum Accord. Perfume created in collaboration with Françoise Caron.
On the island of Awaji, known for its ideal climate, the finest incense in the world is crafted. Following a tradition spanning over a thousand years and passed down from father to son, it is artisanally made by Koh-shis, the masters of aroma. Only they possess the expertise to master the four essential steps of production: precise blending of exclusively natural materials—precious woods, herbs, plants, plant resins, and fragrance; thorough kneading of the paste, which is pressed and worked for a long time before resting for two weeks to fully absorb the scent; cutting the paste into the desired size after rolling it into long, thin ribbons; and finally, drying in the west wind for three days before bundling the sticks.
Box of approximately 125 sticks. Each stick burns for about 30 minutes.
